PV Sindhu recently achieved the best BWF ranking of her badminton career of no. 5 but she is not satisfied with it. Rather’ she has set her focus on World’s most prestigious badminton championship i.e. All England Open Badminton Championship 2017. The championship has been won by only two Indian players, P. Gopichand in 2001 and Prakash Padukone in 1980.
PV Sindhu said,”I want to touch the achievement of Prakash and Gopichand sir by winning All England Badminton Championship. I have been training hard day and night to achieve the goal”. If She could make it to the finals then she would have to face world’s number one ranked player Xu Yieng. There are chances that she will even have to face compatriot Saina Nehwal in the semifinals, if both of them do well in their pool. Meanwhile in the first round PV Sindhu will face Denmark’s Metre Powelson.
Commenting on her BWF ranking She added,” I am not much bothered about the ranking at the moment. I believe I should move up gradually. So far ranking is concerned I feel my progress should be slow but steady. Now my target is to earn number three ranking in the world. Last year, I earned success. Still my ranking did not get a lift. It means I have not been able to deliver my best in the international circuit. So, I have set focus in this year that I will have to deliver at such a level which can steer me towards third in the world.”
It is to be noted that PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal had withdrawn their names from Asian Mixed Team Badminton Championships because of their busy schedule and heavy training for the All England Open Badminton championships.[Details]
We wish luck to PV Sindhu, we know she will become the best player of the world one day.
