National Women’s Parliament was held at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh on 10th, 11th and 12th of February 2017. P.V Sindhu was invited as a guest in ‘Run For Women empowerment’ event organised on the the last day of the conclave from 7:00 Am to 8:30 Am. Sindhu actively took part in the event and encouraged all the women and girls participants in the event.
National Women’s Parliament (NWP) is a common platform for women from diverse background like politics, social sector, education, sports, industry, media, cinema, arts & culture, judiciary and young aspiring girl students to stage their experiences ,share knowledge and research in the area of women’s social economic and political empowerment.
It was attended by 405 women Members of Legislative Assemblies and 92 women Members of Parliament of India. Several eminent women from all walks of life interacted and deliberated with them. 8,000 to 10,000 girl students also participated from across the nation to establish direct connect with policy makers, leaders and other women of eminence about grass root challenges being faced by young women in India.

- Smt. Sumitra Mahajan – Honourable Speaker of the Lok sabha
Along with that there were many influential speakers including Dalai Lama, H. H. Sri Ravi Shanker, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Kiran Bedi, Juhi Chawla and many others of different background.
P.V Sindhu during the event expressed her thoughts on women empowerment, she said,” Today, women are no less than men, both are equal in every aspects of life. System will become unbalanced if this equality is not maintained.”
National Women’s Parliament is a very good initiative for Women Empowerment and we should support it with our full zeal.
