On Friday, Rio Olympic Silver medalist P.V Sindhu met visually impaired Indian cricketers, who were playing semi-final T-20 world cup match at Lal Bhadur Stadium.
It was a request from Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli to P.V sindhu and the ace shuttler responded with humility by going to personally convey her support to the team.
Ms. Sindhu said,”In Fact, these cricketers were on their way to meet me, but, unfortunately their vehicle got stuck because of a flat tyre. Then, I decided to visit them instead and express solidarity to the way they pursue their passion for the sport.”
She added,”It was an emotional experience for me on the whole. I am amazed at the way these players are responding at the sound of the bearings in the ball and playing their strokes, or bowling them. Truly remarkable and hats off to their sporting spirit.”
Star cricketer Virat Kohli himself wanted to meet Blind Indian Cricket team but could not do so because of the on going India Vs Bangladesh test series. So, He spoke to Ms. Sindhu to go and meet them.
“I thought it would be better to be at the ground to encourage them. This is a completely different but immensely satisfying experiance.” She said.
Today i.e. on 12th February 2017 Blind Indian Cricket Team[See] won The T20 World Cup defeating Pakistan. Pakistan gave a target of 198 runs and blind Indian cricket team chased loosing just one wicket.
It is so inspiring to see visually impaired people not only playing cricket but also winning the world cup. We congratulate the team from the bottom of our heart.
We also thank P.V Sindhu for making time from her busy schedule and meeting the blind cricket team. Directly or indirectly it was her support which helped them to win.
